In the event that you wish to continue using Norton (after testing for BSOD's without it), then download a fresh copy from the Norton website and install that. Test for further BSOD's (ensure that you have enabled Windows Defender and the Windows firewall while testing). Please uninstall the Norton, then use this free tool to remove any remnants: Quite a few of the memory dumps blame your Norton protection. If it's needed, download a fresh copy and install that. Please uninstall/remove Skype from your system. Rather it's important that you checked manually, installed any available updates, and didn't experience any errors when checking or updating.

It only takes one update to cause a problem, so it's essential that you have all of them. WARNING - if the computer might shut down during this procedure, please don't do it, as this may physically damage the computer and prevent it from booting.įYI - W8 and W10 communicate more with the UEFI/BIOS than previous versions of Windows, so it's important to ensure that the UEFI/BIOS is kept up to date (and that outdated UEFI/BIOS' may be the cause of some compatibility issues).Īlthough you appear to have a reasonable number of Windows Update hotfixes for this version of your OS, please double check for any new Windows Updates. If you are able to install the update through Windows (without booting from an external drive), then go ahead and update it. Please check at the manufacturer's website to see if there are any UEFI/BIOS updates available for your system. Your UEFI/BIOS (version A00) dates from 2014.

While there is an advantage (slight IMO) to use full memory dumps, their unwieldy size makes (again, IMO) the smaller minidumps preferable.įWIW - the Sysnative app automatically gathers up the minidumps. While the MEMORY.dmp file is overwritten each time a memory dump is generated, the minidumps have distinct date/time stamps and aren't overwritten. In most cases (as long as you haven't changed the settings), the BSOD crash will create a MEMORY.dmp file in the C:\Windows directory.Īlso, it will generate a minidump in C:\WIndows\Minidump. I, personally, don't need the perfmon report. I know that Chrome is probably just reacting to the fact that I'm trying to download an EXE, but I was hoping someone could confirm that that link is pointing to a safe program. I understand that I need to download the EXE at and perform diagnostics - however, when I try to download the file, Google Chrome freaks out and says that there is a virus (see attached image). I tried to attach them here, but they are close to a GB in size. I have two memory dump files from two separate crashes - I have tried, but I cannot read them myself, even with the Windows Debugging Kit. I haven't been at the computer every time it crashed, but the reason for the crash was "KERNEL_SECURITY_ERROR" at least once. The model number (or, at least, the Dell Service tag) is 2JS0P12. The video card is a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 860M. The CPU is an Intel Core i5-4210U 1.70 2.40 GHz.

The computer is around 2 years old, and Windows 10 was installed as soon as the upgrade was available (I think that was a year ago). The originally installed OS was Windows 8, OEM version. I have an Alienware 13 laptop running Windows 10 64-bit that has been having BSODs every day for the past few days.
